I spent nearly 40 years of my working life out west, surrounded by mountains, rugged coastlines, wide open deserts.   There, in 2001,  I was introduced to plein air painting by the generous and talented artists at Dreamworks Animation.  In 2015 I moved back to the far, far northern Wisconsin of my childhood:  the Big Woods. Forests.  Trees.  Trillions of details the size of a grain of rice.  And an almost claustrophobic green.  Unless I wanted to put everything in a van and take off I needed to embrace this.  I needed to make this part of my vocabulary, and my story.  That is my new path: a new journey of discovery through the woods, lakes, river and pastures of my present.
